So, sure—this is young adult literature, which basically means that is not for everyone. I will say, though, this book got my 7th grade kids AND my 11th graders reading. Some 17 year old boys even confessed to me later that this is the only book they’ve read cover-to-cover!
But, I loved reading it, too. It’s a great story, she’s a good writer, and it makes for some awesome classroom discussion.

Can someone write me and tell me the hell I’m missing….?
It’s like deja vu all over again.
I haven’t read a sentence of Harry Potter, a word of Twilight and now this recent screaming craze.
I feel like I did in high school, a dork not hanging out with the cool kids.
